Post Break-Up

Ok i was dating this guy off and on for almost a year. I just broke up with him because he is too damn immature. He's about to be 35 and i just turned 25. We faught every other day over dumb shit. Like we were talking and i got another call so i told him i would call him back. He got mad askin me who the fuck was on my phone and who else am i fucking with. I didn't feel like arguing with his stupid ass so i told him when he started paying my bills then he could question my actions. Everytime we were supposed to see each other he started a fight the day before so i wouldn't want to be bothered with him. We would fight about everything from my kids mother to why i was getting my hair done. They weren't little arguments where we would just go back and forth either. He would threaten me, call me out my name, say things that he knew would make me feel like shit, you name it he did it. Everyone that knew about us told me i was too good to stay with someone like that and that he was very immature. Now i'm sitting here feeling terrible for finally ending things. My question to you guys is do you thing i was wrong for breaking up with him? Or should i have left his ass a long time ago?
