200K to 25K

Just read about a man losing his job on Wall Street and now works at a restaurant seating constumers. It was one of the 4 headline stories on Yahoo. They make it seem so sad. The guy was making good money. Because he was smart he saved lots of money, maybe even had some investments. Now with his and his wifes income they make 4grand a month. Please don't tell me they can't survive off that. Why should anybody feel bad for him. Im sure he is doesn't want any pity or free money. He does good for his family, a good man I'll say. But complaning about taxes, fee and monthly payments for his $6,500 condo. Come on! Get your self an apartment, or buy a house that isn't that expensive. $4,000 a month you can live off that. Write a story that will help someone who just lost their $1,500 a month job. I just fucking hate when they try to paint a depressing picture that really isn't.

Yes I will agree,,
If you look at it, the more you make, you feel as though you should have the finest of things. This is why the economy is screwed up. Wal Mart eliminated jobs, if you look at it the jobs were not necessary anyway. If we worked moree efficiently and not overdo things when we become succesful, we would be more able to handle adversities such as the economy right now. I know the guy is in the NYC area and the price of living is more than where I live, but if he lived well within his means before he lost his job, he would not be affected as much!

^^,
I'm not an economist but I don't agree with you. Unless, you mean individuals are spending on credit, then we need to be spending more money and investing in America.
The problem is nothing is American made or grown anymore. Japan and China own our livestock and farms, America sold it. The beef you eat maybe raised on American soil, sold on American soil but American's don't profit so much from it.
America has sold all of their technological inventions to Japan, like the cell phones and computer programs.
Then we are at war and as a soldiers wife and daughter, it cost money to send them there and keep them there for this long and we have so little revenue in America. Other countries don't have to stand with us to get "freedom fries" they can and do get shipments from elsewhere. Why you think that little Asian man is blowing stuff up?

Sorry,
I didn't respond to the poster...imagine if you lost your job and say you only made $1500 dollars a month and now you make $1100 a month, you'd be in the same boat as well. Unless you are spoon fed with a trustfund and don't work to maintain it. Rich people and the man your talking about is not rich, they have to work even harder for their money. In this man's case he may have had to have 4-8 years of education outside of a h.s.d. Most likely he was always doing business.
This is reverse ignorance to think that just become someone is upper middle class to wealthy and they lose a fortune, you don't feel sorry for them. How many welfare mama's and minimum wage workers have ther hair done every day and the new Jordans, latest clothing styles, a flat screen tv, the best furniture and a trailer/apt/house w/ a BMW or Charger in the front? Aren't they above their means also?

B,
I understand what the author is saying but that's a very simplistic view of a complicated situation. The recession is hitting everybody hard - lets stop focsuing on stupid shit and get back to basics...
2009-06-03 12:38:29
Author,
I agree with " i agree & sorry". But i guess people want more than needed. Rich or poor you create a life style you can financially support. Some times our money goes to needless material. And to "^^" i did not know that America's livestock was bought by Japan. Thats bullshit wtf? We have to start working/thinking like our pasts generations that made America. I think Presd. Obama is the man to point us in that direction. I believe our Presidents always done good to our country at the right time and God does look down to us and takes care of our country.

B,
To the author - stop trying to impose your morals and lifestyle on everybody. To you Cable may be a treat to someone else its a necessite - you can't assume that you know or understand what is important to someone else... if I choose to pay 4000 for my mortatge thas on me cause myabe where I live is very important to my peace of mind - whereas somebody else may be cool living in a more affordable but less safe area... it all comes down to relativity - what is relevant to one is not to another sooooo regardless of what you say on this topic it is an opinion and subject to various forms of interpretation by the readers of the post.
2009-06-03 12:50:44
Author,
Thanks "B" for understand what i was trying to say. I didn't mean to sound to simplistic. I understand everybody has their own mean of living. And i just wrote my comment above and during that time i guess you type in yours. Just wanted to include you in my posting B.
2009-06-03 12:53:18
Author,
First you say you understand then you start bitching and say that im trying to impose my morals and lifestyles on others! No where in my post did i try to impose anything. All i wanted to say was that, that man's life was not that bad or on the rocks. Never did i say he would be better off in Brooklyn, NY with his money. And the reason i say Brooklyn is b/c it is a lot cheaper to live there than wherever he lives, like his $6,500 condo!
2009-06-03 13:01:40
B,
Why do people post if they gonna take shit to heart -All I meant was that by saying he should live within his means you were imposing your morals - how do you know he isn't living within his means his mortgage could be high but maybe he gave up his car - you don't know what a persons situation is and neither do I all i'm saying is that we should stop judging each other and just live - dang..... and since when is having an OPINION considered bitching - don't write shit if you don't want to hear an opinion that differs from your own.

Guest,
I totally understand the situation of the guy on Wall Street. I currently bring in a six figure annual income together with my husband. Yes I could live off of $4,000 a month. But I am going to keep it real and be honest. It sure would hurt to let my house and car go. I couldn't even afford daycare that currently cost me a little of a grand a month.
2009-06-03 13:24:17
Author,
JC! i respect people opinions and yours to. But you "B" accused me of trying to impose my "morals". Morals are beliefs in which you believe in, in a religious way. So that got to me a little, not your opinion. And the whole reason behind posting is to get others opinion. Opinions you like or dislike, you get others peoples point of view. Im sure he gave up some things. And he did B, he gave up some ballet classes he had for his daughter and his wife went back to work. Did you read his story? Is it really that bad? The Cinderallman movie was a great real life example. A man who had it all then the great depression hit and lost it all. The Wallstreet man isn't comparable. People should report stories like that. Not on someone who made lots of money before and now is making what most Americans are making; do you agree/understand me on this B.
2009-06-03 13:32:04
hey,
@Guest - you are right, it does hurt what you work for being lost. But i agree with the author, his life ain't that bad. haha its better than mine, financially wise.
2009-06-03 13:36:15
B,
Y'all are haters - you're hating on him because he is used to a certain lifestyle... If I had to live off of $40,000 a year I'd be homeless and unable to afford a car or insurance... where I live its expensive so although you may think he doesn't have it hard and I'm not disputing someone making less will have it harder but the reality is that its a lot easier to have nothing and acquire wealth than to have wealth and have to get used to having nothing... I'm done on this subject y'all getting all mad over stupid shit
2009-06-03 14:07:24
B,
PS - morals are not purely religious belifes they are beliefs formed by your religion, culture, upbringing, and environment
2009-06-03 14:09:05
Author,
"B" you are getting the wrong idea about my post. All i want is to say he is not going to live a hard horrible life. no shit, i understand some places have a higher cost of living. But making 25g's a years isnt all that bad, his life is a hell of a lot better than the rest of the world. And yes having everything and losing it all sucks more than having nothing to start with. And thats how he did start, with nothing. Im not bashing the dude, im bashing yahoo who posted his story and making it sound like his life is a living hell. Yes you can live off $40,000 a year and have a car w/insurance. Millions do. Why are you so upset B? Nobody is hating on the guy or his life stlye. But he won't be on "Feed the Children" show getting aid. Oh, now you know what morals are. Morals are what you consider the distinguish between right and wrong and yes most of it is what your beliefs are (religion). WTF is your problem B?
2009-06-03 14:26:21
Author,
ps - its like being born with sight and losing it later. people would rather be blind at birth than losing it later in life. Same thing with money. rather be poor at the start of life than later. So i know what you mean B about having wealth then having nothing or a lot less.
2009-06-03 14:30:10
Guest,
@ Author, you must be single, with no kids, living in a rural area. Yes ten years ago when I was single with no kids I did fine with $40,000 a year. That was good money for me back then. But today $40,000 in no where near enough now that I am married with two young kids, big mortgage, two car payments, cable, auto insurance, gas, utilites (electric, gas, and water), homeowner's insurance, homeowner's association dues, lawn man, food, and the list goes on.

note:,
to author and myself, I wrote "^^ and sorry comments...should have known it would get off topic.
To whoever said, they didn't know Japan owned are beef, I minored in Geography and do you know why bootleg alcohol is illegal and it's illegal for restuarants to dump there old grease oil? Because that's all you need to run your cars and it is not more flammable because it's what Nascar drivers use all the time. I could go on and on about this subject and gov't aide to other countries in the form of cheese etc.
If you all know nothing else please know that the IRS sends all your tax info to India and they are the ones doing the tallys etc. and repaying your income tax checks...I'm not a damn radical look the shit up! Some shit people should just know. Think about the fact that all overseas cars are most luxury cars and dependable compared to GM and Ford's shitty reps.

Author,
@note --
If thats true what you said about our gov't "note:" im shock. Really? Why do we do that? And are you saying that moonshine & oil grease run cars that run in Nascar?

And im married by the way. But should people write a sad story about my life when there are thousands who suffer worst than me?
2009-06-04 00:15:04
^^,
Google is a powerful thing, I learned it in college, but I'm sure you look up journal articles and etc about it. Why do you think when the price of gas went up people were stealing those large dump tubs of grease, look that up also. I'll look up some links when I have time and link them here.
