 because she didn’t even blink when she
 said it instead she just held out her hand 
and he looked down at it. Steady as a board,
 just what he wanted to see. “Okay we’ll see
 I need to take care of some unfinished 
business you down for the ride or you want 
me to take you home?” ‘What are your ears 
clogged or are you just not listening to me?

 told her to come home or find a ride to 
WestchesterMedicalCenter, her sister was in 
the hospital. “Oh my goodness is she okay?”

Precious shouted at Chris” “Baby what’s 
the matter while doing a complete 180 in 
the middle of the street. Looking out the 
window with a sad look on her face she 
blankly said “My sisters in the
 hospital.” Precious and Nicole were 
extremely close to her sister and couldn’t 
imagine her life without her. She had been 
so caught up with being with Chris that she 
hadn’t even realized she hadn’t talk to her 
sister in over two weeks. She had been 
meaning to return her phone calls but was 
always too busy. Her body was just numb she 
heard nothing everything was all a blur. 
She was worried, sad mad, enraged even and 
wanted to cry but couldn’t. She tried she 
just stared out the window at absolutely 
nothing. All she could feel was her blood 
boiling. If something were to have happened 
to her sister she would die and already apart
 of herself slipping away. Before she knew it 
her hand found its way to the left side of her 
face to wipe away a tear. Feeling the moistness
 on her fingers Precious found comfort. “Precious…
Precious…Where am I going?” Finally snapping out 
of her daze she said “WestchesterMedicalCenter. 
You know how to get there?” “No punch in the 
name in the GPS.” Chris replied. “Baby are you okay?”
 chris said wiping the second tear
 to fall from her beautiful eyes. “Yeah I’ll be fine.”
 Sensing how emotional Precious was Chris made a
 mental note that he never wanted to see Precious cry
 again and would do anything to see to that no mater 
what it took! Arriving at the hospital Chris double
 parked in a handicapped spot and they both jumped out
 of the car and ran to the main desk. “Nicole Temple what 
room is she in I’m her sister.” “OH Ms. Marks she is right
 down the hall last door on the left..” Preciouos and Chris
 took off running down the hall in search of her sister,
 precious had to be by her side in her time of need. Guilt 
was now consuming her. “Nikki are you okay?” Precious 
shouted running towards her sister and hugging her with
 all her might. “P, I’m fine!’ Nikki said hugging her back. 
“Where’s mommy?” Precious asked. “She’s on her way here they 
got caught
 in traffic. And who is this that u have here with you.” 
Precious completely forgetting that Chris was with her tries
 to change the subject and walks over to T and gives him a hug.
 “Hey baby I haven’t seen you in a while.” Chris already sensing 
what was up he walks over to Nikki and reaches out his hand and
 says “I’m Christopher but everybody calls me Chris. It’s nice 
to finally meet you. Precious talks about you all the time.”
 Precious, Nicole and T were impressed by the way Chris took 
the bull by the horns and manned up to Nicole. T started clapping
 and said “Oh shit precious done walked up in here with a man… and
 you know what men want” Precious and Chris looked at each other 
and just stared. Chris shot back at T with “Well yeah we do all
 know what men want but first and foremost I am a gentleman and 
I am not going to take anything from Precious unless she wants 
to give it to me, and if she is giving it to me we are definitely
 taking the proper precautions to ensure that nothing goes wrong
 because we haven’t even started our lives together. That of 
course is with all do respect to you, Precious and Nicole.” 
T and Nikki were in awe at the way this boy dressed like
 he belonged on the cover of a Hood Fab GQ magazine was 
talking. He wasn’t your average run of the Mill hustler
 and Nikki could smell that and was impressed at the 
choice her sister had made. Maybe she wasn’t following 
in her footsteps after all. “Hold on a minute Nik this 
lil motherfucker just walk in her and tell me that he’s 
sleeping with my niece?” Precious looked at Chris 
impressed with her mans performance and then at her 
sister. Well I mean she is growing up T you have to 
think about we were doing at 14 and he seems like 
I can trust him I don’t think I’ll have to cut 
anybody’s balls off, but I will definitely have 
to do some research on him but he’s good for now.” 
“Uh uh this istoo much for me to handle I need a 
drink, you need to hurry up and check yourself 
out of this place, you have a lot of cleaning up
 and explaining to do!”  Precious was so caught 
up in the moment that she briefly forgot where 
she was. “Nikki what happened you never told me” 
Sitting on the edge of the bed by her sisters feet. 
“Oh nothing I just had a lil too much to drink and, 
damn T did you just say cleaning up I thought the 
part about me trashing my own damn house was a 
dream shit this is gonna be something else. You 
know what Baby take my Master Card out my 
pocketbook and call Molly Maid Cleaning 
Service I am not going home tonight. Tell
 them I need someone there bright and early
 and could you go get me some bottled water
 from the cafeteria I know they don’t expect me to 
drink this shit, oh and take Chris with you.” 
 Normally Chris would have never let
 someone tell somebody else to take HIM 
somewhere but he already knew what time it was, 
def a sister to sister talk so he walked over 
to Precious and grabbed both her hands and lightly
 kissed her on the lips. “I’ll be right back okay 
baby.” Precious just shook her head as Chris turned 
and walked out the room. Precious began to walk out 
the room with them until Nikki called her “Uh uh you 
come here grownie.” Precious just stopped in her tracks
 and turned around slowly. ‘Yeah Nik what’s up?” “Don’t
 what’s up me you think you can just stroll in here with 
some man and everything be peachy you’re just lucky mommy 
and John weren’t here.” Nikki had a bad habit of calling 
her father by his first name when he wasn’t around or when
 she was mad at him. “So you really like this boy huh?” 
“Yeah I do I know what your thinking Nik I’m young and 
dumb but I love him and the feelings that I have for him 
are real and I want to spend
 the rest of my life with him.” Nicole just looked into
 her sisters eyes knowing that what she felt was real and
 she remembers feeling that way about Lee at one time and 
wished that she could one day feel true love again but she
 nearly killed her Faith Evans CD by replaying the song 
“Love Don’t Live here anymore” and that was definitely the
 motto she lived by when it came to men! ‘Precious I would
 never call you dumb and I knw that what you feel right 
now is real I just want you to please be careful and don’t 
let him fool you into being one of these dumb ducxx out
 here how have babies and drop out of school and don’t 
want to do anything with their lives.. You have a good

will finish out your education and that includes your 
Doctorate degree before you start having kids.” 
Nikki would have been proud if she made it through 
High School and did on to college but she wanted the 
best for her sister so she had to push her hard. 
Precious laughed and said damn Nik my doctorate 
don’t you think that’s pushing it? Not seeing a 
change in expression on her face she promised 
her sister just as her parents came running in 
the room. “Oh my baby what’s the matter?”  
“Nothing mom I’m fine. T blew this whole 
thing out of proportion I just had a little
 too much to drink.” “Hell yeah he blew it 
out of proportion you have my liver!” Her 
father said proudly sticking his chest out
 with the biggest smile on his face. “We 
can out drink Camels and still beat a 
cheetah across the jungle!” Nikki, 
Precious, her mother and father all said in
 unison “Oh boy that must be my boy in there
 I know that saying anywhere.” T said 
entering the room with Nikkis waters Precious’ 
heart stopped as she looked to the door for Chris.
 Although
 Nikki and T approved of him her father was 
a whole other story. To her surprise No Chris.
 She looked at T and he just winked and shook
 his head to let her know that it was okay. 
Just then her phone vibrated with a text from
 Chris saying that he and T saw her parents 
coming in and T gave him the heads up that 
now wasn’t a good time and for her to call 
him when she got home and that he had also 
called Alexis and told her what was going 
on so that their stories matched when she 
told her parents that she took a cab from 
her house. Damn he is the best Precious 
thought to herself. “Don’t mock me. It’s 
the truth and my daughter can testify to 
that.” Joe their father said. “Amen to that
 Precious said” All eyes now on her “WHAT, 
I was talking about Nikki we all know she 
can drink an ocean of liquor and still be 
thirsty.”  “Oh yeah you better had been 
talking about Nikki, don’t make me take 
my belt
 off in here!”  Joe said “Don’t you threaten
 my daughter Joseph Marks, and come on so 
you can take me home!” “Uh mom I’m gonna 
spend the night with Nikki tonight I want 
to make sure she is okay.” “No your not her 
and T need to go home and start working on 
me some gran babies it’s only my looks that’s
 getting younger you know.” “Daddy me and T 
are not together and we never will be.” “ Ol’ 
man if you don’t come on here. Precious I don’t
 care you can spend the night just as long as
 you get up early in the morning for school 
and come straight home from school you been 
spending the night with Alexis all this week.

Joe said standing next to and grabbing his 
daughter with one arm. 

On the way to the hotel T stops at a 24hr 
bootlegger to pick up some licks and some 
snacks. “Nikki can you drop me off at Chris 
house, you know I’ve been staying over there 
all week.” “Hell no I like him but I’m not 
going to get you pregnant myself and by 
letting you go over ther that’s all I’m 
doing. I might as well be injecting the 
sperm in you myself.’ Preecious trying to 
think fast tells Nikki about the text that
 Chris never sent her about T wanting to be
 alone with Nikki tonight. “Is that right? 
Nikki asked. T jumps back in the car and 
starts the music. “Change of plans Nikkis
 says, were dropping Precious off.” T smiles
